Parish – Services to Celebrate and Remember
For any inquiries about the services that are detailed below please contact the Vicar, the Rev’d Jayson Rhodes. 489 2317 or jayson@takapunaanglican.co.nz
Baptism
So often in life we do not get the chance to stop and celebrate. Baptism is one of those opportunities and at the same time state belief in a way of life. Baptism is the opportunity to give thanks and celebrate the new life of a child or for an adult to respond on their own behalf to the love of God. Baptism can be part of the Parish Eucharist or as part of a community baptism service held later on a Sunday morning. Confirmation classes are also held each year which gives teenagers and adults the chance to confirm what was said in baptism.
Weddings
St Peter’s is a church in which a number of weddings are celebrated and there are also hall facilities for hire for wedding receptions.
Funerals
Funerals are the time when we tell stories and memories of a person who may be family or friend. It is important to farewell and in the Christian faith those stories and memories are placed in the story of the resurrection.
Memorial Garden
Part of grounds at St Peter’s is reserved as a Memorial Garden. It is designed to be a place of prayer and remembrance. Most days people can be seen coming and going from this garden. Services of remembrance can also be held to mark anniversaries. The garden has been developed as a place where ashes can be interred with plaques. It is a quiet place where friends and family can go and reflect on the memories of those who have died. Please contact the Parish Office for further details about the Memorial Garden.
